Cheapest Winware 8 Quart Stainless

Winware 8 Quart Stainless Steel Roll Top Chafer

Best Item From Winware

Elegant Chafer
I bought both Winware's rolltop chafer (this item) and the traditional lidded Winware chafer. They are both full size (8QT). I was hoping the traditional chafer would meet my needs because it is about $100 cheaper, but alas, it looked and felt $100 cheaper. (see my review on the traditional chafer's page). The traditional chafer is OK in its style and function, but is only suitable for casual parties and family get-togethers, in my opinion. This rolltop is much, much more elegant with an awesome mirror finish, solid (heavy) construction, smooth rolling lid (so guests can open the lid and serve themselves with one hand while holding a plate with the other), and a large smooth handle that you could wrap a party-themed cloth around (like restaurants do). I have not yet used it so I have no opinion as to warming level, but I will update this if I encounter any problems with the rolltop. Also, I can't comment on whether the finish will hold up over time. Two things to take into...

Great to serve a buffet!
Wow! What a great buy. We researched all over the internet for roll top chafers and the Winware 8 Qt shiny one made the most sense and at a reasonable price. This kills the disposable serving pans and sterno from Costco. This is a beautiful serving piece, keeps foods warm and doesn't burn or overcook! The roll top is incredibly handy. The only negative is that condensation forms inside the roll top and drips behind the chafer when the top is opened. You need to keep a cloth on the table to catch the water drops. Otherwise, incredible and glad we bought two! (P.S. Buy the liquid fuel that burns for 6 hours instead of using sterno that burns for just 3 hours.)
Very sturdy
The reviewer who posted that this thing is BIG wasn't kidding! It's got a 26x20" footprint, and it stands 18 inches tall with the dome closed. But it is very sturdy, of solid materials and construction, and looks very elegant with the polished stainless steel rack and dome. Having invested a bundle in various chafing dishes over the years, I'd have to rate this one my favorite, and well worth the Amazon price. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that it drips condensation BIG TIME when the lid is open to the serving position; so make sure to put a towel under it if you put it on a porous surface. Otherwise, it's better than anything else I've seen for the same money.
